Message from the Hospital Director
Welcome to Buckshaw Hospital. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Karen Crockatt and I was appointed Hospital Manager for Buckshaw Hospital at the start of the year, which I am absolutely delighted about. I have over 30 years’ experience in healthcare having trained and qualified as a nurse in Sheffield starting my career in cardiac surgery with promotion to Senior Theatre Sister and then Theatre Manager. My next opportunity took me to Head of Procurement and Commissioning in the NHS and the Independent Sector.
It's fair to say that 2021 has proved to be a challenging start to the year but I am pleased to announce our hospital opening in September 2021. Our new facility will ensure the local community has access to high demand services, providing great care to all our patients.
Thank you for those that entered the competition to
name our new facility. We received so many entries that
were really well thought through suggestions due to the
location and history. We thoroughly enjoyed reading
through them all. After careful deliberation we landed on
Buckshaw Hospital, giving it the name of a well known
geographical area for the local community and further
afield. The winning entry was from a member of the Fulwood Hall team.
I look forward to meeting you.
